What is happening
The Plough at Brockley Green was our village pub for generations. It closed in October 2024. The new owners have renovated it and are marketing it as The Plough Country Lodge — a private hire party and events venue with overnight accommodation. A wedding reception was already held in June 2026; we expect stag and hen weekends, birthday parties and similar celebrations to follow.
Changing a pub to a party and events venue requires planning permission. No application has been made.
Why this matters here
- Weekend party traffic — weddings, stag and hen groups, celebrations — on a narrow lane with a double blind bend
- Late-night noise and disturbance from private hire events in a quiet hamlet
- Our village pub is gone — replaced by a party venue we were never consulted on
Why the council needs to hear from you
The council will not act on a campaign letter or petition. They need separate complaints from individual residents.
